Valentine derived from Valens, meaning worthy. In the 1800’s it was the day of exchanging Love Letters & Commercial Valentines were introduced. Well as they say, we have come a long way from just sending those love letters.
February is known as the Month of Romance, yes love is in the air for most of us. Good Gift Buying

Gift Buying
Being a good gift giver.

The thought of that can be scary, so make it fun. Whether you are buying just one gift or several gifts.

First make a list of who you need to buy for. Next, list what you think that person may like. Think about; Are they conservative, traditional, want a be wild, but life won’t let them, or just plain wild. Just by talking to people you can find out about their interest. So mark down what that person is like. I know at this point your thinking, this is going to take forever, but it won’t. Here are some points to look at.

Now I know there are people out there who have everything, but do not let that bother you. They are really not that hard to buy for. Go for the unusual. Example; I have a friend who is retired, who doesn’t like anything but bubble for the tub, yes she takes a bubble bath everyday. So everyone buys her bubbles for the tub, boring, I bet she has enough bubbles to last a life time. She and her husband go to the casino’s a lot, So, instead of bubbles, I gave her a Casino Frame with a picture of her and her husband at the Casino. She loved it, and she really doesn’t like glassware.

Another gift that can be put together fast, are baskets filled with goodies, baked items, healthy treats, a bottle of wine, cheeses, wine glasses or goblets, and of course a wine stopper. How about a Mug & Coaster with your favorite college team. Bowls are nice too instead of the basket.

Take glassware and make a theme of it. Example; A Golf pilsner glass, put tees, a special golf ball, a ball marker, and other related small golf items. Tie up with wrap and you will have a perfect gift for the golfer in your life. For your sweetheart, take a glass of interest, whether it be a martini or wine glass, put a special necklace or ring in the glass, wrapped in tissue paper, you will be remembered for years.

Still needs some ideas, what about writing a special something, or a poem, a recipe, put it in a oil and vinegar bottle. OK, sounds corny, no not at all, they will get a kick out of that, besides, who else would do that.

Make a home made cordial, put it in a decanter of some type, wrap it up, and put ribbon around it. Believe it or not people do like homemade snack and foods.

Buy different Hand Painted glasses, or Hand Blown glasses, whether it be shot glasses or other glassware, Start someone a collection. I have a friend, for whatever the occasion, she receives a martini glass, just one, her bar is looking great, and what a conversation piece, everyone is looking to see what glass the other one has.

In conclusion, these are just a few ideas, but the one thing I would like to stress, Is make gift buying fun and not a pain. Give the unusual. Believe me people will love it. We are only limited to our imagination.

How to clean your Fine Crystal Glassware

Tips on cleaning your unique Hand Painted & Hand Blown Glassware

Do not put your glassware in the Dishwasher, Hand wash in warm soapy water. This will keep your glassware looking great for years to come.

No, you cannot put your glassware in the microwave.

Dry with a soft cloth so as to not scratch.

Handle the body of your glassware, not the stem when cleaning.

If stains appear on your glassware, gently rub with half a lemon, wash with vinegar, or soak the interior with powdered dentifrice dissolved in lukewarm water.

In areas with very hard water & high mineral content, distilled water will help prevent staining.

To avoid scratching, dust with a soft, lint-free cloth dampened in a mild solution of 1-part ammonia to 2-parts water.

Do not expose to rapid temperature changes or extremes of temperature.

Avoid placing in direct sunlight.

Store your glassware right side up; do not stack; Avoid sliding or twirling the glass.

Avoid packing glassware in newspaper or other moisture-absorbing materials for long periods of time; soft cloth or bubble wrap is perferable.

Remember to sit back and enjoy your glassware.

With much going on with our life. we have decided to make alot of changes for Unique Collector Glassware. We have a new look, updated our Logo, & page background. 2007 was the year of the end & 2008 is known as the year of new beginnings. And believe us it is. We would love to hear from you all, to see how you like the New Look. So let us know.

Changes are good for the new year.

The New Year is here, the Holidays are over! If you are like us, you need a vacation to rest up from all the Holiday rush, but we do hope you had a pleasant Holiday season. We at Unique Collector Glassware are excited about the New Year. A lot of new items & changes will be added in the coming year. In March we will have a new line in our Hand Blown Glassware. Glassware makes you feel special, but we have just added a new item that they say will add Harmony to your life. We all know that Prisms are cute, they usually hang on a window inside our houses. Sand Wedding Ceremony Glassware
This wedding ceremony can be tradition or a beach wedding.
We have just added Heart Shaped Bottles to be used for sand wedding ceremony, but they have many more uses.
For wedding, you are combining hearts, as you are saying your vows, each pouring a little sand into a heart shaped bottle, as oppose to lighting a candle. This is to symbolize the joining of your love and commitment. If you are getting married on the beach, have the minister pour sand into your heart shaped bottle.

Wedding time is here, Have you ever notice that when warmer weather arrives, the wedding invitation start to arrive. Gift baskets are great to give, instead of the plain toaster, or blender. Make your own gift baskets, start with a couple of wine glassess, maybe a Hand Painted candle. a couple of plates, & of course a nice basket you can also use a Hand Painted Bowl. Place a couple of linen napkins inside, cheese & crackers (no not saltines), a bottle of wine, try a bottle of Lady in Red or Mad Fish, these are nice but not expensive wines. A few chocolates, and some fruit. This make a nice wedding gift. Now for your choice of wedding glasses, find what the new couple is interest in, then choose your glassware. Hi, Welcome to our blogs. We all live in a fast pace world with not alot of time to do much. The kids need to go here, the house needs that, its time to take care of the yard & so much more. So how do we relax.
Summer is soon upon us, Yes, But Spring is here. We here at Unique Collector Glassware are in the same boat as everyone else. Spring & Summer should be the time to relax to take that much needed vacation. But if you can't get away why not take that much needed vacation at your home.
